Facebook, the social media website that boasts of millions of daily active accounts, seems just fine talking about uploading or exposing data of millions of users �accidentally� nowadays. The company has been facing immense heat not only from the government agencies but from general users as well since past one year and there seems no stopping to it. However, we can do our part at least by removing the data what Facebook has extracted from our handsets on to its servers. And one of the vital ones is phone contacts.
Several users are unaware of Facebook uploading your smartphone contacts on its own website. These are what you have knowingly (or unknowingly) uploaded on Facebook. Sometimes, the data also includes call and text history.
So how does one remove all the contacts and other data uploaded on Facebook? Here are some simple steps:
1.On the desktop, open the browser and visit the webpage: https://www.facebook.com/mobile/facebook/contacts/
2.You may have to log in to Facebook if only you have logged out.
3.On the webpage, you will see three tabs � Contacts, Calls and Text History and Invitations Sent
4.Under these three tabs click on the �Delete All� option.
5.Once clicked, it will ask you to confirm the decision. Click on �Delete�.
Once done, Facebook will show you a message stating that �Your request to delete all uploaded contacts is being processed and you'll be notified as soon as it's complete. Depending on the size of your contact list, this may take a few minutes.�
Facebook says that it uses this data to recommend you more people to connect. �Facebook matches the name and contact information you upload with the name and contact information others have uploaded to provide a better service and make recommendations to you and others, such as helping you find people you may know.�
